Learn about a XIXᵉ century photographic process in the Munster Valley. From the making of negatives to the artistic printing of your photos, the Van Dyke process and its typical sepia tones offers a fantastic medium to give your images an old-fashioned charm.
After a presentation of the Van Dyke process and an overview of the different manipulations, the workshop starts with the preparation of the paper with the application of the chemistry that will make it photosensitive.
While the paper is drying, it will be time to select two of your photos and transform them into photo negatives.
A series of tests is then carried out to determine the ideal exposure of your images. This is an opportunity to get to grips with the different phases of the process: positioning the work on the paper, ultraviolet exposure and development.
The following prints are dedicated to the printing of your two photos on the sensitized paper.
We will enjoy a moment of friendship over tea or coffee while your cyanotype is drying, an opportunity to talk about photography and old processes.
