Initiate yourself to a XIXᵉ century photographic process in the Munster valley and walk in the footsteps of XIXᵉ century botanists. From herbarium design in photograms to various processing variants, the cyanotype and its typical Prussian Blue offers a fantastic medium to let your creativity run free.
After a presentation of the cyanotype process and an overview of the different ways to use it, the workshop starts with the preparation of the paper with the application of the chemistry that will make it photo-sensitive.
While the paper is drying, you will select the plants, leaves or objects with which to create your compositions. A first print in photogram is made on the sensitized paper.
This is an easy and fun way to learn about the different phases of the process: positioning of the work on the paper, ultraviolet exposure and development. The following prints are dedicated either to the printing of new compositions or to the initiation of variants such as wet cyanotype or the colour shift.
We will enjoy a moment of conviviality over tea or coffee while your cyanotype is drying, an opportunity to talk about photography and old processes.
