On the programme

A FULL-DAY SEA KAYAK EXPERIENCE.

After your introduction on land and at sea, head out in a small group with your guide and explore part of the Calanques National Park by sea kayak. Thanks to this fabulous exploration tool, kayaking allows you to glide along the water and along the cliffs, follow a course in the open sea, follow the coastline to discover sea caves, cross to reach the island opposite, and navigate the shallows.Swimming breaks in the open sea or on a secluded beach, as well as explanations about the site's flora and fauna, are of course on the agenda!

Let your guide guide you in choosing your itinerary.

Upon arrival, and after a weather briefing, the guide will explain the best route for the day. It is possible to embark from the Calanques side of Marseille or Cassis to reach the National Park by kayak. Wind and swell direction may influence navigation choices to ensure your experience is optimal and seamless. In the event of a mistral (NW) wind, we can also explore the Côte Bleue (outside the National Park). If conditions are ideal, we'll paddle in the fabulous Riou Archipelago in the Calanques Marine Park. We may even visit the Calanques de Cassis. The choice of guide will depend on each person's experience, the number of visitors at the sites, and the sea conditions. Sea kayaking is all about tranquility, and the guide will always choose the best possible option.

DAY'S PLAN:

For example: Meet at 8:00 a.m., return at 4:00 p.m. (or 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.)

5 minutes: Welcome by the guide and introduction. You'll share your experiences and expectations, and the guide will explain their chosen itinerary based on the latest weather data, your skill level, and the number of people at the sites.

15 minutes: Group preparation of equipment for the day's kayaking. Choose between single or double kayaks according to your preferences, then load the kayak trailer and minibus with your belongings.

15 to 45 minutes: Travel time in our minibus, depending on the chosen destination.

30 minutes to 1 hour: At the launch site, set up on land, prepare and adjust the kayaks. The guide will offer an introduction on land, followed by training at sea on technical paddling and safety maneuvers to help you feel comfortable. Once everyone is ready, the real adventure begins!

2 hours: In a kayak, you'll glide faster and faster with less effort. The guide will adjust your paddling technique to optimize your energy. Enjoy the wild environment, with its cliffs, caves, nooks, and shoals. Open-ocean swimming breaks will also be organized, and the guide will share information about the site's fauna, flora, and geology, enriching your experience with fascinating stories. The guide will provide technical corrections and teach you how to paddle properly throughout the day. Each site has its own geological characteristics and flora and fauna presence.

1 to 1.5 hours: During the picnic, take the opportunity to swim and explore at your leisure. This is a relaxing time where some can explore on foot, others take a nap, or even observe the seabed with fins, masks, and snorkels.

1.5 to 2 hours: Then it's time to head back. Your muscles, already a little tired, will have to get back to work! The return trip is often a gentle one near the coast, allowing you to explore the cliffs. You'll learn to better control the kayak and your lines. You're almost a kayaker!

15 to 45 minutes: End of the outing. Together, we'll load the trailer and stow the minibus before returning to the facility.

10 minutes: A short rinse and stow session, part of the activity. A debriefing will follow, and we'll discuss your impressions, because you're now a true kayaking fan!

CALL FOR: The group consists of 8 people, supervised by a state-certified canoe and kayak instructor. Active adults ages 16 and up. For younger children, family outings are also available.

Difficulty of the outing:You can be a beginner and have never practiced a paddle sport, but it's best to be "active" for this tour. You must be comfortable in the water. Regular physical activity is recommended.Sea kayaking is a dynamic outdoor sport. The physical commitment is equivalent to that of hiking. The difficulty depends largely on the distance, which we adjust based on each person's experience.

Conditions of participation.

For everyone, the conditions of participation are:

  • Be able to swim comfortably and submerge yourself, it's a must !!!
  • Be in perfect health (5 not have any medical contraindications)
  • Be between 1.50m and 2.00m tallWeigh between

IMPORTANT: Notes from Raskas Kayak on itineraries:

Weather, particularly wind direction and strength, are a determining factor in validating a trip. You have chosen a specific trip, but it may be modified depending on the weather. Rather than canceling the planned trip, we will suggest an alternative route that is more sheltered from a particular wind so that your trip retains its technical specificity of discovering the activity and the site, in optimal safety conditions. Only the instructor is authorized to decide on the site based on the influence of the weather on the environment; they will inform you of the possible options.
