You will discover

Les Chaumes, a genuine mountain pasture in the Vosges mountains, used since the Middle Ages to raise Vosges cattle during the summer months to produce the famous Munster cheese.

➤ The numerous glacial lakes formed during the Quaternary and Würm periods, which retain a wild and unique appearance, reflecting the sublime colours of the seasons and transporting you to a fairy-tale world.

The fauna and flora of the mountains, swept by the wind and subjected to extreme weather conditions, leading to the establishment of subalpine plants.

➤ These high places have long been shaped by man, from clearing the land in the 7th century by monks who sought refuge there until the First World War, which significantly altered the landscape and geographical structure of the area, gradually leading to the development of tourism as we know it today.

Lac Blanc is dominated by a fortress-like rock called “Château Hans”. Legend has it that a cruel lord once lived in the castle that overlooked the rock and terrorised the population. Today, ‘Hans Castle’ is above all a magnificent viewpoint from which to admire Lac Blanc. A statue of the Virgin Mary, perched on Hans Rock, overlooks the lake.
