I arrived a few minutes later and the bus had already departed, but they had it wait in the road and took me to meet them by car, free of charge. Rest of the trip went smootly. 2 hours to climb and descend, wich is more than enough time. Very punctual. 100% recommended.
Great Trip
Multi generational group. My 11 year old wanted to hike Vesuvius. My 81 year old mother did not. Note, there is no where for a non hiker to wait at the start of the hike and it is about 10 degrees cooler once you get to the start. I was really glad I didn't have to leave my mother sitting on a curb in the cold. Thankfully, I left her in Ercolano and she went into the museum and sat in a cafe. However, it is really too bad that there is no option for a non hiker to go in the bus to the start because the view is wonderful and really gives you some perspective on how an erupting Vesuvius covered Pompeii and Herculaneum after being in those sites. The trip itself was great. Bus drivers lovely. Took about 20 minutes to hike up.... for an out of shape 54 year old.
