WHAT ARE YOU GONNA SEE ?

The tour “Art Nouveau, from the Spring to the Ponds” takes you to the heart of Ixelles, from the Defacqz district to the Ixelles ponds, to discover the architects of the first and second generation of Art Nouveau. Let us tell you the urban history of these neighborhoods next to Avenue Louise and Abbaye de La Cambre by (re-)discovering many houses and private mansions.

On the program of the walk, among others…

– Tassel Hotel, by Victor Horta ;

– Solvay Hotel, by Victor Horta;

– Otlet Hotel, by Octave van Rysselberghe and Henry Van de Velde;

– Ciamberlani Hotel, by Paul Hankar;

– Other works by Albert Roosenboom, Ernest Delune, Ernest Blerot ;

– But also many small stories and anecdotes!

We will not go into the houses and mansions (most of the are occupied), but photographic supports are provided to give you a better idea of the interior of the buildings. Because Art Nouveau is a “Total Art” which certainly does not stop at the facades!

We liked it a lot! The tour was very well structured (starting with the beginning of Art Noveau and going chronologically), our guide was very informative and motivated; we learned a lot and saw beautiful architecture!

Discovering breathtaking architecture in my own city! Thank you!

My husband and I booked a guided art nouveau tour around Ixelles/Flagey. Although we are both familiar with the area, we still discovered plenty of new houses and we liked how passionate and knowledgeable the guide was on the topic. We also appreciated the paper materials she showed us, allowing us to get an idea of the interior of these places (since the tour only includes the exterior sightseeing). I am already planning to go on other tours with them, and we're talking about it to friends and family! 5 stars, well deserved!

Discover Art nouveau in Brussels by foot

Commenté le 27/06/2022

I liked this guided tour by foot. We saw several facades from the Art nouveau period by Victor Horta, Octave Van Rysselberghe, Paul Hankar, Albert Roosenboom, Ernest Delune and Ernest Blerot. Our guide Maria was inspired and showed us pictures from the interieurs and talked about the origional owners like the family Tassel, Ciaberlani, Otlet and Solvay. It was easy to make reservations and I certainly recommend everyone to discover Art nouveau in Brussels by foot!
