On the programme

Looking for an authentic Bordeaux wine tour that goes beyond the postcard? Skip the tourist trail and discover two of Bordeaux's most underrated wine regions on an intimate Bordeaux wine experience, limited to just 8 guests.

2:20 PM – Your English-speaking guide meets you in front of La Cité du Vin, introduces the group, and sets the scene for the afternoon.

2:30 PM – Departure. On the road, your guide will walk you through the story of Bordeaux wines — the châteaux, the grape varieties, the terroirs — with a special focus on two appellations most visitors never get to explore: the prestigious Pessac-Léognan and the rolling Entre-Deux-Mers.

  • First stop — Entre-Deux-Mers. Often called the "little Tuscany" of Bordeaux, this hilly, verdant region produces a remarkable variety of wines across equally diverse terroirs — and it remains one of the hidden gems of the Bordeaux wine world. At a charming family-owned château, you'll get a complete behind-the-scenes look at winemaking from harvest to bottling, before sitting down to taste both red and white wines from the estate. This is the kind of stop that defines a non-touristy Bordeaux wine tour — authentic, unhurried, and genuinely off the beaten track.

  • Second stop — Pessac-Léognan. We then head south of Bordeaux to one of the Left Bank's most prestigious appellations, renowned for producing some of the finest red and white wines in the entire region. At a Classified Growth estate from the Graves classification, you'll discover how the wines are crafted, tour the fermentation cellar and barrel aging room, and finish with a tasting of the estate's reds and whites.

By the end of the afternoon, you'll have visited two family-owned châteaux, tasted 6 to 7 very different wines, and explored a side of Bordeaux that most tours never show. The perfect way to understand the true diversity of this extraordinary wine region.

6:30 PM – Return to Bordeaux (± 5 min.).

Mark

Superb tour with two great stops.

Commenté le 20/07/2024

Very congenial and enjoyable host and guide. He loves France, Bordeaux, and it shows through! Delicious wines, and interesting and informative vineyards. We really enjoyed the small size of the group too. Very highly recommended way to connect to this lovely region.

Wonderful & incredible tour by Emmanuel!

Commenté le 05/07/2024

This tour provides a wonderful, small-group tour of two Bordeaux wineries. Emmanuel is so knowledgeable about the wine region and gave us such a great start to understanding what goes into growing the grapes in the various areas (left versus right banks) and also the art of blending these amazing wines. He selects wineries that provide a very intimate experience of both learning and tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend any of Emmanuel’s tours.

Very enjoyable

I had a great time during this half-day in Pessac Leognan and Entre-Deux-Mers. Emmanuel, our tour guide, was super friendly and patient with us. He answered every single question I asked (There were many, as I am studying for the French Wine Scholar exam). The two châteaux were well chosen (off the beaten track). The one in Pessac Leognan produced some incredible saffron (alongside the vines), and we got to try their amazing saffron oil. The first one also produced some Syrah wine, which is very unusual in Bordeaux. Both were organic wine producers. We were only 8 people, and it felt more enjoyable than the cheaper tour in a huge coach and 50 people. I will definitely book another tour (or two) with Vert Bordeaux the next time I am in town.
